Fragile

Inspired by the sculptural language of Iris van Herpen and visual narratives of Alexander McQueen, Fragile reflects on the vulnerability of human existence and the fleeting nature of security, belonging and peace.

Recent years have demonstrated how abruptly wars, displacement and natural disasters can disrupt everyday life, transforming what once seemed permanent into something fragile and uncertain.

This project emerged from a personal reflection on loss and the experience of separation from one’s cultural and emotional roots. The recent migration of many Russian artists, scientists and creative professionals across Europe and America has created stories not only about the resilience of human creativity but also about the emotional cost of leaving one’s homeland behind. While knowledge and culture continue to flourish in new places, the sense of belonging cannot be transferred as easily.

Constructed from delicate feathers, lace, and translucent materials, the garment embodies the tension between beauty and vulnerability. Fragile is an invitation to acknowledge the impermanence of what we often take for granted and to cherish people, places and moments that are there now but may instantly vanish forever.
